Davin Scites Shatters His Own Qualifying Record Set Last Year at Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA – September 28, 2008  - It was said that somebody would beat Scites’ record set last year and they did, it was Scites himself again that won the pole for the 2008 Bailey’s 300 and shattered last years Martinsville record.  After over 100 cars went out to qualify for the Bailey’s 300, Davin Scites not only won the pole but set a new track record again at Martinsville.

Scites set a new track record of a 20.316 second pole.  This is Scites second pole at Martinsville where he most notable broke the track record both times.  “The Champion Chevrolet was just awesome.” Scites said.

A year ago, the Bailey’s 300 qualifying record was not just broken, not just shattered, but obliterated.  Scite’s record-setting pole run last fall was 20.395 seconds (92.846 mph).

The fastest 22 cars will earn starting spots in Sunday’s race. The remaining 20 positions will be filled through the four, 25-lap heat races on Sunday.

Davin Scites Dominates at Motormile

Radford, VA (August 17, 2008) - Davin Scites led every lap of the Toyota/ATK 150 for his most dominating performance of the year and his third win of the season.

"The 06 Champion Chevrolet was running great, it was a great car for Saturdays race.

"We only had one caution so you had to hit all your marks and not make any mistakes. It was a great race."

Scites seemed to run error-free in a race that featured only one caution. "I tried to," he said. "I thought, 'Man, don't spin out."

This is Davins third win of the season, his 10th top five, 12th top ten out of 16 races.

Davin Scites Comes Back to Win the Second 75 Lap Race

Radford, Va. (July 26, 2008) - A solid qualifying effort did not translate into a good run in the first race of the A-1 Heating and Cooling/Star Country Twin 75's at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va. for Davin Scites on Saturday. However, changes made to the car in between features led the No. 06 Champion Chevrolet to Victory Lane.

From the drop of the green flag, the No. 06 Champion Chevrolet began to drop back through the field and not even multiple pit stops could rectify the problems that Scites experienced with the car.  Between the two races, however, Scites and his crew were able to make wholesale changes to the car in time for the second event. The changes helped immensely as Scites took little time catching up to the leaders. He claimed the top spot and remained there for the duration of the race.

"Saturday was twin 75's and it started with a bang early! We had a blow out on the car hauler on the way their, denting the side of the Champion Chevrolet racecar. After some repairs when we got to the track, we were ready to practice. The car felt good in the two short practices and we went out twenty fifth to qualify posting the second fast time.  After post qualifying tech the #1 qualifying car failed tech so we started third in the first race and on the pole for the second race. The start for the first race I knew we were in trouble, the car was terrible all over the race track falling back to eight we decided to make a pit stop to try to make it better. Three pit stops later we could not get it fixed during the stops and ended up 20th. The second race we changed everything on the car taking a big chance. The car was great from the start, on the first corner the car got loose coming off the corner and the forty seven car took the lead but it did not take long and we took the lead and led the rest of the race” Scites commented.

"We could get out to a six-car-length lead on the second place car during long runs," Scites said. "I just had a great race car in the second feature. It's definitely something we can build on."

Scites will return to Motor Mile Speedway this weekend for the Coca-Cola LMSC Twin 75's Whelen Night as the speedway continues to make up for events that were rained out earlier in the year.

Davin Finished 2nd in the Star Country 150 and is 2nd in Points

Just like the week before we qualified second.  There was 33 cars  this weekend and we knew we had do be just right with our Champion Chevy. We went out 30th to qualify and turned a 16.022 putting us  3rd for the Star Country 150.  Before the race ,the 06 team launched some shirts into the stands. The green flag dropped and we got stuck on the outside for a couple of laps.  We shuffled back to 5th spot.  As the race continued there were several cautions. We had made it up to 3rd when a wreck happened just in front of us and the second place car got into a lapped car sending him into the wall hard.  The speedway red flagged the race cleaning up the wreck. When we went back to green we had a great race car and could get to the inside of the leader in the corners but the dodge engine was a little better on the straight-aways then our Chevy was.  But another great run and moved us 2nd into the points only 38 points behind the leader with 14 races to go.   -  Davin

Scites starts the season off with a Win at Motor Mile

RADFORD, Va. (April 8, 2008) -The No. 06 Champion team drove to Motor Mile Speedway in the rain on Saturday for the track's first race of the season.  When they arrived at the track, surprisingly it was not raining.

"During practice I knew we had a good race car, but had no idea what it would do when it came time for qualifying," Scites said.

The car didn't let him down as he qualified fifth out of the 29 cars in the field.

"I knew that we would be close enough to get to the front during the 150 laps," Scites said. "Motor Mile Speedway ran all the races on Saturday except for ours.  We made it through the day, but the rain finally came and they lost the track."

Track officials opted to postpone the race to the following afternoon, and from the drop of the green flag the Champion Chevy was strong.  Scites worked his way into second place with 40 laps to go.   read more
